Dependable DennisWith Dennis in your hiking party, making your compound, or navigating through the controlled substances regulatory minefield, you can be sure you are headed in the right direction. Dennis has BSc Hons (First Class) from Victoria (NZ), a PhD from Australian National University and is an eleven-year veteran at BDG Synthesis. |
Susan the Quiet AchieverSusan’s chemical pedigree puts us all to shame. Her last post-doc position was with a Nobel prizewinner- how many competitors can offer that? Susan has BSc Hons (First Class) and PhD from Auckland, and she joined us from Scripps. When not in the lab you might find her kicking around with her winemaker sister or her rock star (yes, really) brother. |
Steff from KilmarnockNOT from Glasgow! Steff assures us the accents are completely different, or at least that’s what we think she said. Our youngest worker, direct from her PhD at York and an earlier BSc Hons (First Class) at Paisley. More interested in doing great chemistry than all those scary Gen Y attributes which are supposed to have old bosses tearing out their hair. Can be found at marathon Pump sessions at the gym on Saturdays. |
Family Man NeilNeil is dedicated to his young family and works hard in the lab to provide for them. Our go-to guy for those problem compounds you send our way. His last boss at Yale wrote in his reference that Neil could do a reaction with his left hand whilst running a column with his right, but we won’t charge you double. Neil has BSc Hons (First Class) and PhD from Otago. Otago graduates are renowned for their tradition of sober industriousness (yeah, right). |
Barry, pensioned off from the lab...…but still around enough to annoy those doing the real work. Barry remembers enough chemistry to get a timely quote to you, and otherwise can be found in the great New Zealand outdoors doing bird projects with partner Sue. He vaguely recalls BSc Hons (First Class) and PhD from Victoria (NZ), a Killam postdoctoral fellowship in Canada, and working for a living. barry.dent@bdg.co.nz |
Cees, getting more out of life...…hugely experienced, dedicated to his family, newly bringing us his chemistry skills picked up on three continents, and his can-do attitude to our website and IT requirements. Cees has his Doctoraal (cum laude) from Groningen, PhD from Calgary, and after postdocs at Iowa State and CNRS, held research posts at DSM and in New Zealand. His ambition is to, one day, play blues guitar on stage. |
Bruce and Lise, at one with their machines...…actually Bruce and Lise are contractors, but their company is right here in our building and we rely on them to provide timely analytical services in a GLP environment, so we can concentrate on the synthesis of your compounds. |
Kathy, crunching the numbers...…Kathy, qualified CA and in her own accountancy business for many years, keeps our books organised and the taxes paid. |
